Marquetry is the art of applying pieces of veneer to furniture to form decorative patterns and desigss. Marquetry may be applied to case furniture, seat furniture, decorative objects with smooth surfaces or to freestanding pictorial panels.
Parquetry, similar in technique to marquetry uses pieces of veneer repeated in geometric shapes to form patterns such parquet flooring, brickwork patterns and trelliswork.
