The back and the front of the chair are assembled separately. Pearl glue is used instead of modern adhesives (this is the type of glue that will have been used originally ) And then the front and back of the chair can be brought together. Sash clamps are used with shaped wooden softwood blocks to mould to the chair and apply pressure to the joints while the glue is drying out.
